We attribute this silk-pile, finely woven scatter to the west Persian Kurdistan town of Senneh, although it may be more of a Senneh-baf (Senneh-weave) Tabriz from further to the northwest. The sand field shows a pallmette, rosette and short stem design within a broken red inner border. A further frame is the light main border with a small rosette and leaf pattern. This is a particularly early appearance of the broken border. The field is more open and on a larger scale than the minutely patterned, dense border system. Green, blue and red details with elaborated petal palmettes. Good condition.
