Sort of a Gabbeh, but much more complex in pattern, with a crimson field centred by a jagged navy medallion enclosing a fringed, barbed cartouche sub-medallion. Odd pendants and skeletal projections along the vertical axis. Flowering vases in field corners. Narrow border system, with central ivory stripe with a simple stencil palmette meander. Moderate tribal weave. Good condition. An attractive transition rug between fully geometric Gabbehs and fully patterned Qashghais made for the export market.
