The picturesque, old Persian capital, which since the early 20th century has woven fine or extremely fine scatters to large carpets, often in a complex medallion or allover layouts, with crisp colors, and generally ivory fields and red borders. Weaving began with Ahmad in the 1920’s. Serafian is one of the better-known recent weavers. Isfahans are often signed. Short, velvety pile.
